7 Super Tips For Hosting A Super Bowl Party
Posted by Genesis Samson on 01/28/13
Sundays are typically reserved for sleeping in, going to church, or taking the dog for a walk. Super Bowl Sunday is anything but that! It’s a wild and wacky day full of fantastic football, hysterical commercials, and the meanest chips and dip you’ll eat all year.
If you plan on hosting a Super Bowl party this year, then you’ll need to be psyched up and ready to throw a big bash. Here are seven super tips from your fervent football fans at Flutter FETTI® (try saying that ten times fast!):
1. Man The Grill
We don’t care if it’s a blinding blizzard outside or if you live in a concrete jungle – a Super Bowl party is not complete without a hot grill full of smoked meat and caramelized vegetables! Obviously a top-of-the-line stainless steel gas grill will crank out plenty of delicious food, but even the smaller electric and charcoal varieties will get the job done. Don’t have a grill? Buy one before the game or borrow one from your friend or neighbor. No place to do the grilling? If you don’t have a balcony or patio, you can always cook it up in the communal courtyard, parking lot, or closest patch of grass. As they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way!
2. Show Your Team Spirit
If your local football team has triumphed all the way to the Super Bowl, then everything about your house and your self must say “Go Team Go”! Every guest should be wearing a team jersey and that includes your 1-year old nephew and four-legged friends. Faces should be painted with the team logo and the team flag should be draped on your front door. It’s okay if your neighbors think you’re crazy because on Super Bowl Sunday you’re allowed to be. Even if your team didn’t make it, you’re allowed to pick a favorite for the day because we know you like one team slightly more than the other!
3. Make Fun Bets
Bets are especially fun if your team didn’t make it. We’re not endorsing gambling here, but we are endorsing a bit of fun amongst friends. A Super Bowl party has plenty of moments where fun bets can be made, including who’s winning at the end of each quarter, how many times the announcer says something ridiculous, and how many Super Bowl commercials are legitimately funny. When it comes to the winnings, well those can be anything. You can bet cash, your girlfriends’ homemade brownies, or making your friends do foolish things.
4. Go Confetti Crazy
You can eat, drink, and watch a football game on your big-screen TV any day of the week, that’s why Super Bowl Sunday requires that extra bit of color, sound, and excitement. How do you do that? With fun party favors, of course! Huge foam fingers, noisy clappers, and air horns (while slightly annoying in your own house) make you feel like you’re attending the actual football game! Best of all, get everyone 14” Flutter FETTI Confetti Sticks with customized team colors and you can celebrate every big touchdown with a huge cloud of confetti! The biodegradable tissue is perfect for outdoor parties and easy to clean up indoors too!
5. Create The Perfect Punchbowl
Unlike the average football game, Super Bowl games tend to start early with pre-game analysis and end late with confetti bursts and celebratory interviews. That means you’ll need plenty of delicious drinks on hand to keep your crowd hydrated through the entire event. Stir up a huge bowl of punch made with juices, sodas and real fruit (and spike it with your favorite rum, if you’ve got it) and leave a large ladle around so everyone can scoop their own. Make up your own cool concoction and give it a cool name like the ‘Green Bay Punchers’ or ‘Jaguars Juice’ to give it that hometown feel.
6. Play Your Own Games
Instead of sitting on a couch all day, get up and get active like the players on TV. Skip the pre-game or halftime show and start your own game of touch football outside. Split your team into the two Super Bowl opponents and find out if your own amateur skills match up with the professionals. It’s important to get everyone involved, including the wives who hate sports and the guy who recently broke his hand (every game needs a few referees, right?). A game of touch will quickly change your gathering from a lazy lounger into a pumped-up party!
7. Capture Some Memories
You might not think to capture some videos of your halftime touch football game or snap some photos of your spirited guests, but as the party host it’s an appropriate thing to do. During the day you’re bound to hear complaints like “put down the camera and come watch the game” or “stop being our videographer and be our quarterback”, but when you send out that video of Johnny jumping over Ben or that photo of Sue with her hair dyed green, every single guest will thank you for it afterwards. Like we said, this Sunday isn’t any ol’ Sunday – it’s Super Bowl Sunday!
